Course Description

An examination of systems for organizing and presenting information so that it is effective, efficient and understandable. Students will design and organize content into information structures that encourage users to browse, search and explore. Students will take projects from concept to completion, including, time management and task sequencing. Emphasis is placed on teamwork and organizational skills.

Course Competencies

Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Understand the relationship of information architecture to user-centered interface design;
  • Research topics and organize ideas into comprehensive information structures;
  • Identify the components of a knowledge base including classes, properties, facets and instances;
  • Present information structures in a variety of visual formats;
  • Conduct research and develop project objectives;
  • Manage the production of a multimedia project on schedule;
  • Create production implementation plan including budget and schedule;
  • Work effectively as a team member.
